2002 Mahomet-Seymour High School Alumnus

Maureen is one of Mahomet-Seymour’s most accomplished high school track and cross-country runners. Her work ethic and pursuit of excellence in these two sports is legendary.

As a Bulldog, Maureen placed seventh in the 2001 AA IHSA State Cross-Country Finals. She was the first athlete in school history to earn All-State honors in AA Cross-Country. (IHSA later changed from a two-class system to a three-class system).

In track, Maureen was a six-time AA All-State runner in the 1600 and 3200 events. In 2002, she was the state champion in the 1600 meters and placed second in the 3200 meters. This was the school’s first female state champion in the AA class. She was a 4-time state placer in the 3200 meters. Her times of 2:16.9 in the 800, 4:54.9 in the 1600 and 10:44.2 in the 3200 meters are still school records. Maureen teamed with her sisters Eileen, Mary, and Megan to place fourth in the 3200 meter relay state finals.

Upon graduation, Maureen took her running talents to the highly respected girls track program at University of Arkansas. While at Arkansas, she was a 2004 NCAA All-American in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She was also the SEC champion in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, she earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine’s All-American First Team. Maureen’s college career was cut short by injury and she was not able to compete her senior year.

Maureen went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and earn her Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Bio-Mechanics in 2008. After leaving Arkansas, she joined the Army where she has earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. She is married to Jason Renaud and the couple have a son and a daughter.
